Online Business Blueprint: Email Marketing Blunders

Just stumbled across a fantastic report by MarketingSherpa (passed on by my colleague, Chris Knight) of the biggest email marketing blunders.

Mistake #9. Disregarding Your BlackBerry and Mobile Readers

I’ll admit, this is a hard one for me to get my head around, mainly because I don’t own a BlackBerry or mobile reader so it’s not natural for me to think of the needs of that type of consumer.  I always associate BlackBerry’s with big business and my target market is not big business.  But it didn’t occur to me that an iPhone user (who could potentially be in my target market - in fact I know I have a subscriber or two who owns one) would also fall into this category.

Chris reminds us: With 4-5 million iPhones on the market also, I’d add that to your list of people who might be on your list and reading your email communications on their mobile device.  When thinking mobile usability, TEXT IS BEST.
