Product Review: Mark Joyner’s Learn to Blog for Profit & Fun Lesson 3

Deborah Carraro reviews lesson 3 of Mark Joyner's Blogging CourseIt’s technically Day 3 for me even though it’s 1 AM and I have yet to go to sleep.  I was just so jazzed about yesterday’s lesson that it was all I could do to NOT skip ahead to lesson 3 of Mark Joyner’s “Learn to Blog for Profit & Fun.  Well today’s lesson fell a little short of the mark.  The lesson is titled ”Creating Your Blog” and I was expecting to have a step-by-step walk through of how to set up a blog.  I know that there are many different free and paid services and that the ultimate choice depends on how comfortable you are with technology and how you intend to use your blog but I think the lesson would be enhanced by picking one service and walking people through a set up.

I’ve spent the past ten plus years coaching people through their technology issues.  In fact, I’ve built a successful VA practice around it.  So I know that even though something may seem incredibly intuitive and easy-peasy, if you’re intimidated by technology, you’re not going to take the first step into action, no matter how easy.  In fact, I just had a conversation with my cousin this morning where I told her about Mark’s great new course and how it would be perfect for her because she knows nothing about blogging - she’d never even heard the term - and she shied away from it for a very specific reason…. it sounds too hard (and I had offered to set up the blog for her - all she had to do was start watching the videos).

So Mark, I know that you don’t want to come out in favor of one blogging system or another but it really would enhance your course if you did a step-by-step tutorial of how to set up a blog.  If you really want to be impartial, go through a basic set up in each of the different services.  Don’t go through customizing look and feel.  Just walk them through setting up an account.  As silly as it sounds, sometimes people need to be baby stepped through the process.  You could load all the tutorials in your support desk and allow people to choose the one that’s best for them or you could just pick one of the free blogging services and include that as part of today’s lesson.

Here’s an example of a tutorial I created last week.  Just visit http://tinyurl.com/3dn4w8

Aside from that, the rest of the lesson was a good overview for beginners.  Remember, if you want to check it out for yourself, click here.
